Head Into Summer With These Updates!

Head Into Summer With These Important Seasonal Updates

Whole-Home Surge Protection

Protect your home’s most valuable systems with a whole-home surge protector - an upgrade not commonly found in most residences. This added protection helps safeguard HVAC systems (including ductless units), smart appliances, tankless water heaters, EV chargers, and other sensitive electronics from damaging power spikes. Most surges are caused by utility grid switching, transformer issues, or internal appliance cycling, not just lightning. Even small, repeated surges can gradually damage equipment and shorten system life. A whole-home surge protector can be installed on its own or paired with an electrical safety check for added peace of mind, helping protect your home while identifying other potential electrical concerns.

Technician Spotlight: Joe On Generators

Technician Spotlight: Joe On Generators

“Spring is the perfect time to give your generator a little attention after a long winter. As temperatures rise, I often see mice, ants, and debris finding their way into units, so a quick inspection can make a big difference. Check for nests, clear out any buildup, and call us to schedule your annual maintenance. We want to ensure everything is ready to run smoothly before you actually need it.

If your generator was installed in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, now’s the time to start planning for an upgrade. We’re seeing more older units in the field dealing with wear, hard-to-find parts, and low reliability. There have been a lot of advances in generators over the last few years, making them even easier to maintain while delivering the same dependable performance.”

A Long Snowy Winter: A Note From Sam

A Long Snowy Winter: A Note From Sam

It’s been a long time since we’ve felt a winter this COLD! With over 25 days below freezing (and even more frigid nights!), our drivers and technicians have been working tirelessly to keep your homes warm and comfortable.

The long hours, early mornings, late nights, and dedication in tough weather do not go unnoticed. Here’s what some of our customers had to say:

  • “Fantastic personable tech. Gault serviced my Generac in the midst of this snow and freezing temps. Very professional. Friendly. Great service. Thank you, Gault. Very pleased.”

  • “Gault was prompt, straightforward, and efficient in getting me a new boiler when mine kicked the bucket with more than a foot of snow on the ground. Spectacular service!”

  • “During a delivery of propane, the delivery person noticed that a line to our tank was becoming unsafe. He took a picture with his phone, reported it, and Gault sent a repairman to our house within a week.”

Thanks to their dedication, Gault delivers more than fuel and service – we deliver reliability, trust, and peace of mind. Our customers count on us, and we can only meet that promise because of our team’s hard work and commitment.

I’m incredibly proud of our team, and winters like this make me appreciate them even more.

Did Your Air Conditioner Drive Up Your 2025 Electric Bills?

Did Your Air Conditioner Drive Up Your 2025 Electric Bills?

If your electricity bills kept climbing last summer, your air conditioner may be part of the problem. Older central AC systems use significantly more electricity to cool your home, especially during prolonged heat waves.

Many systems installed 15–20 years ago were built to much lower efficiency standards. So even if your cooling equipment still runs, its age often reduces efficiency, forcing your system to work harder and use more power to deliver the same refreshing comfort.

Cooling equipment efficiency is measured by a SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating, set by the U.S. Department of Energy. The higher the SEER, the less electricity your system consumes. For every increase in SEER, homeowners can see a 4–6% reduction in annual cooling costs. Over time, those savings can significantly offset the cost of a new system.

How does your system compare?

  • AC systems installed before 2006 typically had a SEERof around 10

  • Due to age, those systems may now operate closer to a SEER of 7 or 8

  • Today’s minimum installation standard is 13.2 SEER

  • Many homeowners are upgrading to systems rated 16 SEER or higher

If your cooling equipment is aging or your summer electric bills are rising, upgrading to a high-efficiency system may be one of the smartest investments you can make for long-term comfort, reliability, and savings. And don’t forget about our spring savings: Receive $500 off the purchase and installation of a new high-efficiency air conditioning system. Learn more at gaultenergy.com/ac-savings

A Note From Sam

What’s your New Year’s Resolution?

Ours is to keep your home efficient, prevent costly breakdowns, and ensure year-round comfort.

We suggest a few simple safety checks that can make a big difference in keeping your home safe, comfortable, and worry-free.

  1. Electrical Safety Check: Our licensed electricians will inspect your home’s electrical panels, outlets, and wiring to ensure everything is operating safely and efficiently. This check can enhance safety, improve energy efficiency, and help keep your system up to code. Starting February 1st, save 50% on your electrical safety check - now is the perfect time to protect your home and prevent unexpected issues all year long.

  2. Propane Safety Check: For customers using propane, our Propane Safety Check includes inspecting your tank, lines, and appliances for leaks or issues. We’ll help you avoid unexpected repairs… or maybe just ensure your gas fireplace doesn’t go out!

  3. Oil Tank Inspections: Our technicians perform an Oil Tank Inspection as part of your Bioheat system tune-up to spot wear and tear before it becomes an emergency. And with a Heating Equipment Check, our technicians will make sure your furnace or boiler is clean, efficient, and ready for action.

Winter weather puts added stress on your electrical, heating, and fuel systems, so now is the perfect time to schedule these essential inspections.

Wishing you a safe, warm, and happy 2026!

Truth Behind Energy Kinetics Heating Equipment

Truth Behind Energy Kinetics Heating Equipment

We get asked all the time if we sell or service certain brands. The truth is, we’re pretty selective. We only work with equipment that meets our standards for quality, technical support, and reliability. This is a big reason why we stand behind Energy Kinetics (EK) heating equipment.

Our Comfort Specialists often hear customers refer to them as “that bright yellow one” - and for good reason. EK is a family-owned manufacturer we’re proud to recommend, and here’s why:

  • Strong Product Support – Direct access to EK engineers and their full parts inventory

  • Technical Expertise – Our team is trained and certified to service and install EK

  • Made in US – Their New Jersey factory uses locally sourced steel

  • One of the best Warranties in the business – lifetime protection!

  • Equipment Longevity – EKs perform well over 30 years with proper maintenance

More importantly, we really like Energy Kinetics’ efficiency. EK systems are designed to help homeowners save big on fuel use and heating costs. You can see the proof in two real-life case studies at gaultenergy.com/heat-savings.

And one more thing to keep in mind… It’s the final month of our heating equipment promotion; we’re offering over $600 in savings when you purchase and install a new heating system with us!

Stay warm this fall!

Generators: Just As Important In Winter

Generators: Just As Important In Winter

When most people think of generators, they picture summer storms and hurricanes - and for good reason. But more and more homeowners are realizing that winter is when a generator can make the biggest difference.

A power outage in cold weather isn’t just inconvenient, but damaging and dangerous. Without heat, pipes can freeze and burst, causing thousands of dollars in repairs and water damage. Food spoils quickly, sump pumps stop working, and the cold itself can make your home unsafe to stay in.

This is why a standby generator is an important addition to any home. A whole-home generator automatically powers on when the electricity goes out - keeping your heat running, your lights on, and your household safe and comfortable until service is restored.

Instead of worrying about the next nor’easter or ice storm, you’ll know your home is protected. As we head into colder months, it’s the perfect time to prepare. Because while we can’t stop the snow and ice, we can make sure we’re never left in the cold.

Call 203.227.5181 to request a FREE GENERATOR QUOTE.

Q: What’s one thing you wish more homeowners knew?

A: Know where their emergency switches are!

Emergency Switches shut off the burner in your heating system. Most homes have at least two: one located at the top of the basement stairs and another on or near their heating equipment. Both should have a red switch plate for easy identification.

Know where your main water shut-off valve is located in case you need to shut off the water. And make sure you know where your electrical panel is located and that the breakers are properly marked!

Top Five Reasons You Need an Electrical Safety Check

Top Five Reasons You Need An Electrical Safety Check

Zach, one of our licensed electricians, visits dozens of homes each month to perform electrical safety checks and ensure everything is up to code. We asked Zach: What are you finding the most during these safety checks? He shared the top five issues he sees most often - and why they matter:

  1. Missing GFCI Protection: Many homes lack Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlets in key areas like kitchens, bathrooms, basements, garages, and outdoor spaces. These outlets are critical anywhere moisture is present, as they prevent electrical shocks. Without GFCIs, you could be putting your family at risk.

  2. Rusty Meter Boxes and Panels: Rust or corrosion on your meter box or electrical panel is a red flag for past or current water damage. Left unaddressed, this can deteriorate electrical connections and potentially lead to a costly electrical fire. If you see rust, act fast.

  3. Outdated Federal Pacific Stab-Lok Panels: If your home has a Federal Pacific Stab-Lok electrical panel, it’s important to replace it immediately. These panels have been linked to safety issues, including fires and many recall scenarios.

  4. Overloaded Circuits and Wiring Issues: Overloaded circuits - caused by too many appliances plugged into one outlet, rodent damage, incorrect circuit breakers, and more - are more common than you'd think. These issues often trip breakers or damage wiring, leading to costly repairs.

  5. Melted Outlets and Hidden Damage: Melted outlets and wires often go unnoticed until it’s too late. This damage hidden beyond the walls poses serious risks!

DIY fixes can be dangerous – leave the electrical work to our professionals! If you haven’t had your home checked recently, now’s the time! An Electrical Safety Check is a quick and easy way to protect your home, avoid future issues, and enjoy peace of mind.

The Best Ways to Monitor Your Home This Summer

The Best Ways to Monitor Your Home This Summer

Summer is the season for travel, thunderstorms, and rising temperatures, which makes it the perfect time to get serious about home monitoring. With the right tools in place, you can keep your home protected, comfortable, and energy-efficient all summer long.

Generator Monitor

It’s officially hurricane season, and that means your Generac standby generator is more important than ever. Thanks to Generac’s Mobile Link monitoring, we can remotely assess the status of your system and even diagnose many issues over the phone, saving you time and unnecessary service calls. If there is a change in the status of your generator, Mobile Link will send an alert to ensure you are aware of your power status.

Never worry about running out of propane again. Our wireless propane monitor gives us real-time tank level readings to ensure timely deliveries. For just $49.99/year, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that we are keeping an eye on your fuel supply when you’re busy summer grilling, heating the pool, or running backup systems. It’s a small investment that adds convenience and confidence all year long.

Smart Thermostat

Heading out on vacation? A smart thermostat, like the Ecobee, lets you control your home’s temperature from anywhere in the Ecobee app. Whether you want to reduce energy bills while you’re away or cool the house down before you return, it’s a must-have for summer comfort. Ask us how to get started with a smart thermostat and stay in control of your climate, even from the beach.

Going Beyond the Basics: Inside Gault’s Hurricane Season Prep

Going Beyond the Basics: Inside Gault’s Hurricane Season Prep

What sets you apart from your competition? is a common question any business owner gets asked, and one that I can proudly reply with quite a long list. One answer that I am pleased to share is the way we respond to and prepare for emergencies. It’s a timely topic as we sit in the middle of hurricane season.

The month of June has become our unofficial (but actually very official) storm prep month, where we review, train, and prep for the upcoming hurricane season. And what sets us apart from our competition? We include everyone! Our Customer Care team has completed hands on generator troubleshooting, our back-office team is prepped on answering customer phone calls and emails, we’ve had 6 additional techs certified in generators within the last year (bringing our total to 19!), our IT team has tested our backup systems and the list goes on….

It’s a big undertaking every year to ensure we’re ready to serve our customers regardless of the weather. Five years ago this summer, we lived through a turbulent few weeks due to Tropical Storm Isaias. We got through that time by coming together to make thousands of propane deliveries and hundreds of service calls to keep generators running. Rest assured, we’re prepared to do it again when the next big storm hits.

Have a safe summer,

Sam Gault

Special Feature: Josh on Generators

Special Feature: Josh on Generators

Josh, our generator expert, visits dozens of homeowners every month, guiding them through our turn-key generator solutions. So we were curious… what questions do you frequently get from homeowners? He shared several, but we narrowed it down to the top three questions he receives regarding automatic standby generators.

  1. How long do the generators typically last?

It depends on how often it is used, so anywhere from 12-15 years on average.

2. Do you need to service them, and if so, does Gault service?

Yes, like all engines, generators need to be serviced once a year. Each installation comes with a free service plan for one year, which includes your annual tune-up. Our in-house Generator Team is certified to service both Generac and Kohler models.

3. Can generators run on propane and natural gas?

Generators can run on either. During our appointment, we’ll discuss fuel source and what model is best for your home.

Don’t miss out on a FREE 7-year Warranty when you purchase and install a new automatic standby generator with us!

Should You Repair or Replace Your AC System?

Should You Repair or Replace Your AC System?

The EPA has mandated that all air conditioning equipment manufactured after January 1, 2025, use R-454B refrigerant.

R-454B has a significantly lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) than R-410A. There are no ozone-depleting compounds, it has low toxicity compared to past refrigerants, and it has proven to be more energy efficient in the US Department of Energy testing. Learn more here!

A new system will ultimately be in everyone’s future, but as with previous refrigerant phase-outs, there is a runway of time before 410A refrigerant and replacement parts are depleted. For now, homeowners will need to consider whether their system is worth repairing or whether it is time to replace it.

While reading the Repair List and Replace List, make a note of which statements apply to your AC system or unit(s).

Repair:

  • Active warranty; some repairs may be covered.

  • The system’s age is less than its life expectancy.

  • Your unit had 0-2 repairs in the last 3 years.

  • The unit’s performance generally functions well.

  • You plan to live in your home for less than 7 years.

  • Newer models, less than 10 years old, run more efficiently and keep monthly costs down.

  • If you meet the $5,000 Rule: Age Of Your Unit x Repair Cost < $5,000

  • The SEER is over 13.

Replace:

  • Expired warranty; you are responsible for all repair costs.

  • The system is at or has surpassed its life expectancy.

  • Your unit has had 3+ repairs in the last 3 years.

  • Your unit’s performance has gone down. Look for: Lessened airflow strength, difficulty with full room or house coverage, more time to change the temperature, and its ability to reach the desired temperature.

  • You plan to live in your home for 7 years or more.

  • The system is 10+ years old, or you want to optimize energy efficiency.

  • You exceed the $5,000 Rule: Age Of Your Unit x Repair Cost > $5,000.

  • Your equipment uses R-22 refrigerant.

If more statements in the Repair column apply to you, calling our experts for a repair makes sense. If more statements in the Replace column apply, then you are in luck…

Breathe Easy with Our Indoor Air Quality Promotion!

Breathe Easy with Our Indoor Air Quality Promotion!

At Gault Energy & Home Solutions, we know that clean air isn’t just a luxury - it’s essential to your family’s health and comfort. That’s why we’re excited to offer a limited-time promotion that lets you save $100 for every $1,000 spent on our Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) products. From air purifiers to ventilation systems, we have the solutions to help you breathe easier and live healthier.

Why Is Indoor Air Quality So Important?

The air inside your home has a direct impact on your well-being. Poor indoor air quality can lead to a variety of health concerns, including allergies, asthma, respiratory issues, and even more serious conditions like heart disease and cancer. Common indoor air pollutants such as dust, mold, and pet dandruff can provoke symptoms and affect your quality of life. Fortunately, improving your IAQ is easier than you might think - and it starts with the right products.

Our Indoor Air Quality Products & Systems:

1. Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs):

Maintaining a healthy home starts with fresh air. Our Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) from Honeywell and Aprilaire provide a continuous supply of clean, fresh air while conserving energy. These systems draw in fresh air from the outside, filter out pollutants, and then push out stale indoor air. They help to maintain balanced humidity levels, improving overall comfort and reducing the buildup of allergens and mold. The result is better air quality and lower energy bills!

2. Air Purification Systems:

AtmosAir air purifiers eliminate airborne contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, mold spores, allergens, and odors. These systems have been laboratory-tested and proven to reduce the presence of the coronavirus by 99.92% within just 30 minutes of exposure. This makes them an ideal solution for families concerned about the spread of germs and viruses in their homes.

3. Humidifiers:

Dry air can be just as harmful as polluted air, causing issues like dry skin, irritated sinuses, static electricity, and even damage to furniture and wooden floors. Aprilaire Humidifiers provide an effective solution to this common problem by maintaining optimal humidity levels in your home. Proper humidity not only helps you breathe easier but also enhances your comfort, especially in the winter months when indoor air tends to be drier. These systems help balance moisture levels, making your home feel warmer and more comfortable even at lower temperatures.

4. Electronic Air Cleaners:

For powerful filtration and air purification, we recommend Trane “Clean Effects” electronic air cleaners. These systems ionize air particles, giving them an electrical charge that causes them to be attracted to oppositely charged plates. These air cleaners are particularly beneficial for households with allergy sufferers or those wanting to improve air quality without constantly changing filters.

5. UV Germicidal Lights:

Air passing through Aprilaire UV Germicidal Lamps are thoroughly disinfected of pathogens, which helps reduce airborne bacteria and viruses. The germicidal power of UV light also keeps mold from growing on the coil of the unit, preventing unwanted mold and mold spores from circulating into your home.

6. Media Filters:

Airborne contaminants cycle through your HVAC system, making media filters crucial for maintaining indoor air quality. The filters remove the air invaders through a series of pleats which expand into a replacement cartridge for a high collection, low resistance capture.

If you’re a part of our Cooling Protection Plan, we upgrade your filters to high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) models during annual maintenance. HEPA filters have a higher MERV rating, they trap more particles by removing up to 99.97% of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and other airborne contaminants when replaced regularly.

Now is the perfect time to invest in your home’s indoor air quality.

Benefit from our current promotion to improve the air you breathe while saving money! Call 203.227.5181 today for a FREE consultation and discover our top-of-the-line IAQ products and solutions.

Your family deserves cleaner, healthier air!

Get Comfortable With Your Thermostat

Get Comfortable With Your Thermostat

Your thermostat might be small but it’s a crucial part of your home’s comfort. We often recommend you reach out when you need a new thermostat as different models aren’t always interchangeable, and we can get you a higher quality version at one of our supply houses.

Programmable Models: You’ll be able to predefine your home’s temperature for specific days and times throughout the week. This function makes it equally as effective as a smart thermostat in enhancing your home’s energy efficiency. For example, if your family is away at work and school from Monday to Friday, a programmable thermostat can be set to automatically adjust the temperature, preventing your heating and cooling system from running unnecessarily when nobody is home.

Smart Models: In comparison, a smart thermostat offers a level of intuitiveness in regulating your home’s heating and cooling. These thermostats will learn from your temperature adjustments and are accessible through a dedicated app. They can also assist in accurately tracking and managing your home’s energy consumption data so you can monitor and assess your HVAC system’s efficiency.

If you’re interested in upgrading your home’s thermostat, schedule an appointment with one of our technicians. We’ll review your current models, make suggestions based on your needs and get you on our installation calendar.

Tips to Help Save you Energy This Summer

Tips to Help Save You Energy This Summer

As the temperatures rise and the summer heat sets in, finding ways to save energy becomes crucial. Not only does it help reduce our carbon footprint, but it also contributes to lower energy bills! Here are some tips that will make a significant difference in your energy consumption while keeping you cool this summer.

Use a programmable thermostat:

Set your thermostat to automatically adjust the temperature when you're not at home, which can help reduce energy consumption and save money on your energy bills. Not sure how to switch? Give us a call at 203.227.5181 to schedule an appointment with one of our electricians.

Keep your home well-insulated:

Make sure your home is well-insulated to prevent cool air from escaping and warm air from entering. This can help reduce the workload on your air conditioning system and save energy.

Use fans:

Use ceiling fans or portable fans to circulate air throughout your home. This can help reduce the temperature and make you feel cooler without having to rely solely on your air conditioning system.

Close blinds and curtains:

Close blinds and curtains during the hottest part of the day to block out the sun and keep your home cooler.

Use energy-efficient lighting:

Replace incandescent light bulbs with energy-efficient LED bulbs, which use less energy and produce less heat.

Use appliances wisely:

Use appliances such as the dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer during off-peak hours when energy rates are lower. This can help reduce your energy bills and save energy.

Grilling outdoors:

Cook outdoors on the grill instead of using the oven or stove. This can help keep your home cooler and reduce the workload on your air conditioning system.

Avoid using heat-generating appliances:

Using the oven or dryer during the hottest part of the day can make your home feel warmer and cause your air conditioning system to work harder.

Our top priority this summer is to keep you and your family cool and comfortable.
